West Bengal’s jute industry barely hanging by a thread Shiv Sahay Singh MAY 14, 2022  https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/an-industry-barely-hanging-by-a-thread/article65411202.ece

the one earth, farmer and worker friendly material of great promise - jute - is being pummelled into extinction by India’s textile policies. Not close behind is India’s plastics industries gleefully awaiting the death of this bastion to launch an assault on petrochemical based packaging.

Comment on Whats App: KS its also our lived experience in Araria (Bihar). We have one jute industry in the neighbouring district of Katihar, which closed many years ago. Most of the jute fibre grown is then processed in Bengal industry, with these shutting down, our economy will suffer further. But then who cares, how we die!!! Till we die... either as foot soldiers of Hindutva, or by poverty as migrant labourers in kanyakumari to kashmir, the proud bhaiyas of Bihar and UP shall perish, and only be grieved in their native villages!!!
