India is home to 194.6 million (19.5 crore) undernourished people – the highest in any country in the world. This has come to light in this year’s ‘State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World’ (SOFI) report released yesterday, July 24. https://thewire.in/health/undernourished-highest-global-india-un-report

The same SOFI report also says more than half of women in India, at 53.0%, are anaemic – the highest in South Asia and also among the highest in the world. The prevalence of anaemia in women, especially during reproductive age, can not only impact them but also the health of the foetus during childbearing.
